I'm a rider that rode year round on a vfr 750. I liked that bike coz It was a 'beater' that could be rode year round with some grunt. I was involved in an accident in feb 08 in the afternoon on a fine day. Dont want to go into the events/details of the accident but I want to incourge EVERYONE to wear their gear, if that means you will need 2 sets of gear- cooler gear for the summer and warmer for winter do it. I always made an effort to fully gear up with riding boots, seperate spine protector, knee and shin pads(down hill style)etc and with all that gear on I still broke my spine,(small crack from an impact that went through spine protector) 4 ribs, spleen and liver lacerated, left wrist, right hand, left shoulder blade and left hip.
All at city limit speed. The hip injury is the worst and i sit here today over a year later 2 days out of surgery- screws taken out. I was lucky and am greatful but if I had worn hip armour also it could have made life a whole lot more ezy.
Wear that gear ladys and gents!
