OK, so I have been neglecting the act of sorting out my suspension for some time now. I have an SV650 with a Gixxer rear shock set to default settings, and the front forks were redone with heavier springs and thicker oil. The front tracks well and is pretty much always firm and planted (even when going over rough stuff) but the rear is very unsettled.
Even merging onto the freeway if I give it too much throttle the rear will bounce and sway a bit, and the higher the speed the more it acts up. Thankfully I rarely hit speeds exceeding 140km/hr and for the bike seems to do OK up to 100 or so. That being said, I would like to do something about it.
I have not set up ANYTHING; no sag or any of that and I am sure I can find some stuff on the internet to help me with that (the suspension 101 article in this subforum will do the trick). My question is where should I start? Do I have to start with the basics or can I just start tweaking the rebound/dampening on the rear shock? Like I said, the front feels great and since there isn't any adjustment on the stock SV forks, that is a good thing.
Tips, hints, links, all would be appreciated.
