I posted this on BikeLand.org recently..
So I decided to drop by and see what the fuss is about. It seems some of the BikeLand regulars have taken exception to BCSportbikes, fair enough. I'd like to address those who have decided to cause a disturbance at BCSportbikes, and then publically denouce our website on BikeLand. This is not directed to the majority of BikeLand.org members.
I'll admit, we're trying to attract all kinds of people to the site, and cater to everyone. This means we will have new riders, and squids. Everyone needs to start somewhere. If you guys were the 'mature' and 'knowledgable' riders you try to portray yourselves as, you may have tried to educate the new riders with being asses. There is no need to provoke people. If a guy has a stupid question, or is uninformed, why not try to help him out, instead of making him look like an idiot?
So far I'm unimpressed with the likes of DirtyBill and fish_antlers. These 'adults' have contributed nothing to BCSportbikes, except to provoke the younger members. I've met both of you in person, and now I'm thoroughly dissapointed. If the two of you are as knowledgable as you say, why not help?
You rag on Richmond Motorsports, you had bad experiences, fair enough. Richmond Motorsports, as far as I'm concerned, is trying to clean up their act. They've been supportive of the website and the members. Personally, I've never had any of my bikes serviced there, I haven't bought a bike from them. I have bought gear and been pleased. They have treated myself, and the members well this year, why shouldn't we support them? I don't know the circumstances that DirtyBill had the cops called on him, but that isn't a regular occurance, I has asked him if he thought maybe it was the way he handled the situation, apparently I was attacking him. If RMS called the police on 10% of their customers, I'd suggest they had a problem, if they call the police on one of their customers, I suggest he may have had a problem. Logically, and statistically I'd have to assume DirtyBill may have handled the situation poorly. Thats my opinion, I'll leave it there.
It's easy to sit back on your own website and denounce BCSportbikes, I haven't seen any negative posts on BCSB regarding BikeLand. fish_antlers, in every technical discussion you've taken part in on BCSB, you've contributed absolutely nothing. In fact, one of the more prominent debates we had, I had agreed with your point, yet you decided to go off on a tangent, misinterpret another post as mine, and continue on with your merry little rant, completely disregarding anything anyone else stated. Just because someone can run their mouth off, doesn't mean we should respect them. You seem to enjoy your little rants, I just wish they had some substance.
Sure the Carter thread got out of line. I have no idea what the deal was between Sikorsky and Carter was, it went bad, we hasn't happy so he didn't complete the deal. On a site with some younger members, you can see the 'pack mentality'. One person posts about a negative experience, and more just come out of the woodwork. I believe you could say the same thing happened here with the thread regarding the Carter thread on BCSB. One person says BCSB is full of squids, another follows suit. Again, if you are a board with more knowledgable and mature people, why would this happen?
I hope, one day, DirtyBill and fish_antlers in their infinite wisdom, might actually contribute to the community. Like it or not, the community consists of all types of riders. Those who enjoy track days, those who enjoy mid summer's nights in the twisties, those who enjoy shiney bits, those who enjoy starbucks, those who enjoy stunts, those who are new. If you slag all riders who don't agree with your style, how are you any better than the 'squids' at BCSB?
The staff at BCSB may have the reputation of being nazi's. In my opinion they are doing an excellent job at what Adam and I asked them to do. We are trying to cater to all sportbike riders. The plain fact is that sportbikes are becoming more and more popular with a younger crowd. They need a place to learn, not be provoked or dismissed as 'squids'.
..that's all I have to say about that.
