    Brake issues

having some trouble with my front brakes
my bike stops fine and smoothly at high speeds, but at slow speeds or when i have the brakes slightly depressed theres a vibration or a shudder.

i checked the rotors they both seem to be level from all angles, my pads are a little low but there still seems to be enough there
this has me confused, has anyone ever had a similar problem?

Lube these. Don't take them apart just a little oil (WD-40) or other lube should free up the bobbins. Try not to get any on the rotors. If you do, just clean them off before you hit the road.

My SM610 front brake was doing this in the spring.

I took the pads out and knocked the pistons back a few times then cleaned it all up with brake clean.

It seemed that one of the four was sticking so that one pad would drag at low speeds.

Still sounds like a warped rotor, maybe ever so slight, only apparent at high speeds?

He said it's fine at high speed. I'll bet you a beer it's the bobbins 'D'. Either way, I want a beer. Cuff no function beer well without.

You can't see with the naked eye if your rotors are within spec. Get a dial indicator and a base, get the front wheel in the air and measure the rotor runout. Compare with spec. It's pretty easy to do.

I have to advise against oiling the bobbins. Even if you clean it nicely, the centifugal force will fling the stuff on the braking surface.

I need to find out where to get those. The hockey team would be in heaven. You always find the best pictures Chia.

As for any oil being spun out of the bobbins its not an issue. There is more shit on the rotors riding in the rain than any little bit of WD you put on. Don't dip the rotors in lube, just a couple of drops on the back side of the bobbins. Remember, WD-40 was made in Chuck Norris' basement by his own two hands. It will fix or destroy anything it wishes.

I'll be hitting up the local Liquer store this week for them. I do know you shouldn't put beer on the rotors though. (just try to get the thread back on track.)
