First of all sorry about sort of asking a question that you might not be able to answer coming from BC but I cant find an equivalent forum in my own province to ask this question. I am importing a bike from the US into Manitoba and I was looking for insurance for the bike.I phoned the brokers here for Manitoba Public Insurance Corporation(our equivalent of ICBC)and asked about getting a policy to cover the bike which I will transport in the back of the truck. The first policy they offered me was a 36$ permit that would give me collision, fire, theft and vandal and I could ride or transport the bike as I saw fit even from the States and in Canada, lasts 5 days then xtra for each days afer. The second policy was like a special coverages policy and it was going to be around 50 bucks(the guy wasnt sure he would have to check) and it would only be good for transportation of the vehicle in the back of the truck - you cannot ride the bike. So do you guys in BC have something similar in your province and why would you pick one over the other. I see in the sticky thread for importing bikes that it sort of sounds like one should choose the latter but I cant understand if you guys have the option why not take the riding permit. I wont ride the bike back from the US anyways as it only has 7 miles on it now and the highway is no place to break in an engine but still once I get it back it seems that I could ride the bike around and transition right into regular insurance after RIV form 2 and the CT inspection. I would think that the provinces have similiar coverages but maybe I am wrong.Anyways some feedback would be great if you know anything about such things.
