Where to buy oil & filters

I have a 2002 Honda f4i. Last time I went into Carter Motorsports I paid $50 for a jug of Motul semi-synthetic, and $23 for a filter. Tell me that this isn't just a little steep: $75 (don't forget the $1.50 WASHER) + tax just for the materials to do an oil change?

I've had a hell of a time trying to find a replacement 10w40 semi or fully synthetic. Any suggestions as to where I can get equivalent-or-better stuff (the oil and the filter) cheaper? Thanks!

I get my stuff from Burnaby Kawasaki, which is a little cheaper than the prices you described.

$40 for 4L of Kawasaki Branded fully synthetic oil (10W40), and about $15 for a Kawasaki branded oil filter.

Depends on what you are buying... you could get a Hi Flo filter usually for about half the cost of a K&N (but not all dealers carry the cheaper filters), if you want to go that route. $50 for four litires of Motul semi is not so bad....probably average actually. Written into that is likely four oil levies and a filter levy, too.
    I don't do PM's

which equals $53 for 4L, more than what he's paying for the motul a carter.

The price seems high, but it sounds about right. Pay the price in the Spring and cheap out for the Winter oil change. If you ride enough to change oil mid-season you can save that $1.50. The washer only has to be replaced every other time.

I buy Shell Rotella T full synthetic, which has recently become available at some CT stores for $29.95 for 4L.

    Looks zactly likes this:

This has long been known as a superb value and hidden gem, but it's limited availability in Canada has kept it even more quiet.

It was also slightly changed in the last year, and there was some speculation about the impact for motorcycles on some forums after that. This release came out and confirmed what many thought....no prob, same as previous blend:

'We recently ran the JASO MA friction test on Rotella T with Triple
Protection 15W-40, Rotella T Synthetic 5W-40 (CI-4) and our soon to be
introduced (within the next 2 months) Rotella T Synthetic 5W-40 CJ-4.
All three oils passed the wet clutch friction test. Rotella T Synthetic
5W-40 (CI-4) has more than 1.2% ash (JASO MA spec limit) so it can not
be classified as JASO MA. However, Rotella T with Triple Protection
15W-40 and our soon to be introduced Rotella T Synthetic 5W-40 CJ-4 do
    meet JASO MA."

Which CT stores? I've been running down to WallyWorld in Bellingham for years now to get the stuff.

Last I knew it wasn't sold anywhere in Canada, just the 0w30 winter weight synthetic.
