So me and the girlfriend had lunch at lougheed mall before heading out to Gastown.
After lunch, we started heading out Austin Ave. On a stop light, a black 04 or 05 Honda Civic Si started reving his engine beside me, obviously looking for trouble (music playing loud and all three guys being rowdy). There are three guys in the car. The dude on the passenger seat has his legs on the dash, the driver keep on screaming and stuff.
I turned right onto Lougheed first, the black Civic right on my ass. And as the hi-way cleared up, the Civic floored it going at least 110Kph... passed me on the left, laughing, screaming... and CUTTING in front of me and missed me by inches!!!! I was going 70 and with the speed of that car, it looked like I'm on a stand still and the Civic's pulling away really fast.
The driver, proud of his accomplishment, looked back at me still laughing and making fun of me when two seconds later, there was a car turning left at Bell Ave. I witnessed the crash right in front of me! It was really really bad!
The black Civic hit the left runing Taurus head-on. The Taurus, driven by an olad lady with 3 passengers didn't roll but turned 360 in the middle of the hi-way. The civic went straight to the curb.
As soon as I saw the accident, I turned right onto Bell, asked the girlfriend to stay in the bike (as I'm almost certain there's gonna be blood) and I ran over to the scene while calling 911. The guys in the front of the black Civic are pinned and the guy on the back is bleeding and looked unconscious. The old lady on the Taurus shocked but fine. The guy with his feet on the dash took the beating. I think he's got his foot twisted. Firewall of the civic was pushed back to pin the driver and the passenger, the firefighters had to use the jaws of life to remove the doors and get the guys out. The dude on the back was obviously shaken up he can't even remember what happened. I stayed with them until they're all taken to the hospital and the cars are towed. I was trying to talk to as much victims as I can to keep them conscious but reminded them not to move until the paramedics arrive.
Anyway... I'm just glad and lucky to be alive right now. It took me an hour to pull myself together before hopping right on the bike and riding away.
On my way home, there's another group of kids trying to race me and almost got themselves rear-ending the car in front of them coz the driver's looking at me when the lights turned red in front of them. For some reason I get kids all fired up wanting to race (and I'm not even going fast!).
Just a reminder to everybody not to get carried away when some douchebag starts revving and speeding up. They seem to think that since you're on a bike, you want to go fast all the time.
