just a few moments ago, I was eastbound on 72nd, approaching 200th, and for once, not speeding! At one of the sidestreets, there's a large black dually truck waiting to pull out, and of course it waits until the perfect moment to quickly jump out directly infront of me. Luckily I watch these assholes pretty closely, so it wasn't that big of a surprise when jutted out infront of bi-directional oncoming traffic.
I have just enough time to accelerate and veer around the big front end of the vehicle as it swings into my lane, and as I pass (waving 'hello' with my finger), I see the driver chatting away on a cellphone as he's looking at the oncoming westbound trafffic (that he also cut off). Once in front of him, I slam down through the gears and give a few hearty downshift blips to make a lot of noise and hopefully wake this asshole up out of his cell-phone induced coma.
As I come to a stop at the intersection line, I look over, and see a uniformed officer in a ghost car right next to me, giving me the stankeye. He yells over "take it easy! slow down!", so I flip up my visor and yell back, "this asshole on his cellphone right behind me just cut me off and almost caused an accident; sounds like a perfect opportunity for a 'driving without due care and attention' ticket to me!!"
The cop just shrugged, then turned off onto 200th.
Guess it only applies to bikes...
