R6 fuel consumption

1. ## R6 fuel consumption

i've got an 02 R6 and am tossing aorund the idea of doing a weekend trip to rossland in september. how many k's on the highway should i expect to get out of a full tank of gas?

2.

3. bout 200 or so before the gas light comes on

4. ok, that makes sense. right now i'm getting about 140-150 k's in the city before the light comes on. how many k's can you get outta the tank once the light comes on, bout another 50 or so?

5. I did 46.6 km on an '03 R6 fuel warning. Can't say how much further I could have gone, but was pretty glad to see that gas station. All in, about 200-250km on a tank.

Uhhh....find out what your reserve tank size is and your average gas consumption and do some math? It's grade 5 math man...

Thanks for the lesson, Einstein.

As always E=MC^2.

if you are just cruising, 200-250
if you are like me and keep your rpms up a bit, 195 tops is what I get.

10. It's good to "benchmark," your travel capacity. You've already determined 150 to 150 kms in town....Now's your chance to see what road miles will do for fuel consumption.
As an alternative, you may want to alleviate any risk of running out of fuel by having a gallon or so strapped somewhere in your kit. While I don't recommend "running out of gas," with a fuel injected motorcycle (hard on the fuel pump) it's not unheard of. If you happen to run out between (the abundant) fuel stops, you'll really know how far you can go.
Enjoy the trip. While I find some stretches between Osoyoos and points east can be boring, there's enough entertainment thrown in (read: curvy sections) to keep things interesting.

mmmmm. Rossland. Rock Cut for a lamb burger, or in Trail, the Trail's End restaurant for their duck.

11. i get about 200km on my 600rr !

12. there's no real answer to this. if you ride it gently you'll get huge range.. if you kick the snot out of it, you'll get little...

so how do you ride?

13. ## Different bike but...

Interestingly on a recent 1,700km ride to the Okanagan & Kootenays two up, it again confirmed that I tend to get an average of around 20km/l. This is on a GSX-R750 FWIW, but my recollection of just about all bikes I have had is that if I planned on an average of 20km/l I would not be too far off. So in spite of our using a different bike I would suspect you should be able to get something similar. This is on touring without hanging about but without going to "ludicrous speed" either.

For those more exact than "about 20km/l": average was 19.47km/l, best was 21.6, worst was 17.7. On a 3,300km trip to Oregon last year we (again two up) averaged 20.9km/l, best was 22.9km/l, worst 19.5km/l.

Typically on long trips the warning light comes on at 260-ish km. This is at the 13l point of a 16.5l tank. Best distance I ever got on one tank (without running dry so I still do not know the absolute limit): 308km.

14. If I take it really easy, I can stretch my tank out to 320km on my '07 R6. When the gas light comes on, I know I've got exactly 45km of fairly fun riding to go before I run dry.

seeing as i haven't had the bike on the hwy yet (only been riding in the city so far) i don't really have any data to do the grade 5 math with. but then anybody with a grade 5 reading comprehension should have been able to figure that out from the original and subsequent posts.

got any other smartass comments you'd like to share?
