So last weekend I decided to go for a longer solo ride out to Hope. I took Barnett and Lougheed all the way there, and boy was it a fantastic ride in the morning.
I decided to take Hwy1 back and once I hit the road, I was a little spooked.
It was my first time on that highway, and never realized how windy it could be. Here I am on a “little” gixxer watching out for traffic around me and at the same time I’m getting pushed around by the wind. Usually the wind or drag from riding doesn’t bother me much, but the crosswind that pushes you side to side can be a little unnerving to a new(er) rider.
Is there something that can be done to help compensate/minimize the affect of the blowing wind? I’m guessing riding position should be somewhat tucked in more rather than sitting upright. Other than the “stay off the highway” or “get used to it” advice, is there anything else?
I noticed that as I rode closer into the city, the wind was blowing less, or perhaps it was weaker. I don’t think it was turbulence as I kept my distance from most cars.
Thanks in advance,
