After going on a few more group rides I've been thinking about the idea of selling my baby ninja and going for an older 600. I can't say that buying the 250 was a waste because I'm sure I would have hurt myself on a 600 having almost no riding experience before this year. I've had my close calls on this 250 and have learned a lot in these past few months. I have yet to go to a track day but do not have enough gear to attend. I believe I have learned enough to be a competent rider on a 600 and I'm looking at going 2-up next season often.
On the other hand, the 250 is amazing on gas. It's like the civic of the motorcycle world and cheap to maintain, awesome for a student like me. Keeping the 250 for another season or two could allow me to gain more skills to play with once I decide to upgrade.
My insurance on this bike will be done by the end of September and I wont be doing any winter riding. I'm going to take it easy for now as most of you have suggested for someone like myself.
If I were to sell it, this is what I was thinking (do you think it's fair?):
$5500 - Bought at Holeshot Motorsports
$4800-$5000 - Average Craigslist price for 09s
$280 - Included Ninja 250R Crash Kit Installed (Frame Sliders/Spool Sliders/Bar Sliders)
7-8000km - Aiming for by the end of September
Two Standstill Drops before crash kit - No mechanical Damage or other accidents
Left fairing has few scratches
Right fairing has one puncture - difficult to notice
Followed Proper break-in procedures as suggested in Manual
Oil changes/maintenance performed routinely as suggested in Manual
$4700 - Asking / Saving $1000+
$140 - Seat Cowl Selling Seperately
If I were to upgrade I would be looking at something within the vicinity of what I sell the 250 for. Like Superboy's 600RR here in the Bikes section
