Need some help here.
On my way home from BCIT, I go up Willingdon and turn left on imperial then left into my driveway. Half the time it is clear and I just turn. Sometimes, I have to wait for oncoming cars. Here is the problem:
If I stay close to the yellow line, approximately position one, signal AND stick my arm out, then without fail a car behind me will be too lazy to change lanes and try to pass me in my lane. It is really scary.
If, however, I get in the middle of the lane and be "dominant", then without fail a car will approach me at speed, change lanes at the last second (which is scary enough) but the car BEHIND them who was tailgating them will go "oh shit" when they see me and realize why the first car changed lanes. From there, they either lock up their tires and I have to pull forward to avoid an accident and circle the block to get in my driveway, or they change lanes quickly and the process continues with the car tailgating them.
This happens almost daily. Oh and my driveway is at an extreme angle so it is basically impossible to turn into it coming from the other way on imperial.
Maybe this isn't so much a request for help because it seems pretty hopeless, so I guess it's just a rant.
