Not being very knowledgeable about these things I'm looking for suggestions.
I currently have a 2007 Thinkpad R60e with a 1.6 core duo, 2G ram and 120G hard drive running Vista Home Prof. Looking for something with a little better performance, but doesn't need to be crazy. Main reason I want to do an upgrade is to pass off my current laptop as an office extra, and get something less bulky and more sexy. My current laptop is as thick as a book.
I use it mainly for MSOffice, Quickbooks, some Photoshop, and internet. Nothing very taxing, but running Vista is taxing in its own right. I leave the laptop in the office and plug it into an LCD and will take it home about 3-4 times a week.
So I want something that is:
between 13-15" only
Light and thin
A bit faster than my current setup
Prefer a larger HD, but would be willing to work with an external setup
A higher resolution screen
Good built in speakers would be a bonus
Longer battery life would be a bigger bonus
Right now I am considering the Dell Adamo or the Voodoo Envy but am not 100% satisfied with these two. The Adamo is gorgeous, but the 1.4 ghz processor throws me off. Recently they added a 4G /256GB option but I can't find any reviews on that setup. Also they are priced higher than I'd like; the onyx Adamo is around $2300usd. The Voodoo has a quicker processor but only 2G ram and a small SSD comparitively. It is priced at about $1600usd. Which would be quicker in typical daily use? Besides these 2 models, what other (good looking) models would you reccomend? Keep in mind I don't need mind-blowing performance, I don't play any video games aside from the occasional poker and my main concerns are portability, screen res and looks. Prefer less mainstream models, but would consider all (except for Mac).
