I can't believe it took me this long to figure this one out.
You are on tour and your MC has a mechanical problem. You arrive at the dealership and they are way busy.
What do you do?
Most riders try to wheedle, cajole their way into getting serviced and it doesn't always work.
I go to the Service manager or Owner and tell them that we are on a trip and that I realize what a pain riders are who break down on the road, come in for emergency service and expect everyone to drop everything to fit them in
I simply ask them what their shop rate is
Then I look at them and say if you can get me going today (or by tomorrow if it is a big deal) I will pay you 150% of your shop labour rate.
Then I find out what parts are needed and tell the parts guy I will pay for overnight delivery (In Alaska it is 4-7 days normally)
