    A quick question about helmets....

    Hi All,

My understanding is that only one tax gets charged for helmets. I'm about to buy a helmet from War Motorsports in Abbotsford and he says both taxes apply. Can anyone confirm that it is GST only, PST only, or both?

    Thanks

My understanding is because it is a safety equipment, it is PST exempt.
If it's a novelty helmet, then it's both taxes.

To confirm, phone RMS or Carter and get a quote on a helmet and ask them the tax question.

I bought a new helmet in June and it was only GST.......the PST is waived because it is a required piece of safety equipment.

Unfortunately when the new harmonized sales tax comes around this exemption will be gone but for now it should be only GST.
