    Weather betting pool

They're calling for high temps towards 10 degrees by next weekend in the lower mainland. It's been 8 degrees daily up here in North Van every day since Boxing Day.

If we ain't got snow by just after Christmas, it doesn't look like we'll be getting any this year (hooray Winter Olympics!)

Anyone wanna get a betting pool going for snow the winter?
My bike is so much faster than yours that I dare you to ride it, you lame little turd. Do you have the balls to ride this BOTTOMLESS PIT OF TORQUE?

    My what?
Well, I spent $10000 this year on snow clearing equipment for my property maintenance company so I say we will get nothing this year. I'll put 10 bucks in the pool.
I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.

Was up at Seymour all day with the kids, and it was raining & snowing the whole time.

I want you to be right, but I'd hate to get caught bowing to the crowd too early.

I'm tired of snow boarding in the rain.... I just want some decent snow on the mountains. I have a feeling it's gonna be mostly rain this year.

It's either an El Nino year or a La Nina year (I forgot which one) - but whichever it is it's the one that equates to a warmer and wetter than normal year ...

    if that helps at all?

It's January and Grouse has less than half of the runs open, the big run (Cut) you see from the city is still patchy... I still haven't dumped my bike due to snow. Taught for 2 hours today, came home fully soaked with that Descente gear

What a great year for me to start snowboarding...
I think I should have kept the bike insured instead.

Yeah... it also hurts more wiping out on ice than it does low siding at 70kph...

To all the snowboarding beginners: if you don't already have one, get yourself a helmet. It's very easy to catch the back-edge of the board and get thrown backwards with your head hitting the ice. Had that happen once, got a helmet, and have since had that happen a few more times. If it wasn't for the helmet, several of those hits would have easily resulted in concussions. The ~$60 is well worth it.

Don't mean to scare ya out of snowboarding, but like with riding, it's a good idea to be well geared up.

    Oh, i got one.

Almost got to try it, too. You know those little dips around every support pole for the chair lifts? My head stopped at the edge of it. It was pointing right at the bolts holding the pole in place... I think i need to learn to stop in other ways and not just by falling on my face

Agreed on the helmet... ice can hurt your head just as much as asphalt

I'm at Whistler right now and it's been raining all day... I think more snowshoeing and less skiing this year - snowshoeing in slushy snow isn't the end of the world.

I just got back from a ski holiday in Andorra and there was a boatload of snow. Took the board and the skiis. It snowed here one day in Madrid about a week ago. Was 18 degrees outside of Barcelona last tuesday. Go figure
