    Spelling

This is an issue that has often been picked up on in this forum. The "English" police (you know who you are) like to find and point out mistakes.
I like to think that this is one bandwagon I haven't jumped on.
The reason being that English is my first and only language, and I have a great deal of admiration for our multicultural society in the 604 who do a bloody sight better than me in having fluency in more than one tongue.
All that preamble was written just to explain that the following link is not a slight - far from it. It's a quite useful guide to how to differentiate between some of the most often misspelled (sp) words.

Respect to all the multilingual forum users

This isn't an ESL thing. There are many adult Canadians with spelling and
grammar equal to that of a grade 6 elementary student.

There are keyboarding errors that occur... and society is used to the use
    of a spell checking program.

But... there are always folks, wherever you work, wandering around and
asking things such as... "How do I spell DIRT?"

There is NO excuse on a motorbike forum for people not knowing the difference between road/rode and brakes/breaks, just for starters.

I see more people born and raised here who spell more poorly than those from other countries.

Living so close to the US Border, it still puzzles me that many riders call it the "Boarder"

    and

every one has at least one Helmet but half of you spell it "Helmut"

BTW, English is my second language, learned it at the age of 18.

O give me a brake. Its not there fault they're english is bad. Your ranting becase sum people confuse certian words. that is just nitpicking. Deafinately they cold be better but weather or not they get the words right should not effect the fact that you can still understand what their trying to say. Alot of the times people are just to old to remember the wierd grammer rules. How about you try to learn Romanian and write it perfeclty, than you will no what im trying to say.

I get bonus marks for the incorrect usage of 'to' vs 'too' right?

When a person can't spell it is the written equivalent of somebody talking with a booger hanging out of their nose.

How can you take them seriously? The red underlining means spell check wants you to try again.

Spelling worldwide has really gone in the toilet since spell check. People make the same mistakes spelling the same work but instead of memorizing the correct spelling they just leave it all to spellcheck again and again.

I recall a BC statistic that said close to 25% of adults can't read to a grade 12 level. There are a lot of people out there who are really good at acting literate.
