My intention was to keep my bike insured year round. When the snow was on the ground and I wasn't riding I want to fire it up at least once a week.
I fire it up and its starts well. I'm messing with my car and I go to the bike in a few minutes and turn the manual choke down. Mess with the car some more and return to the bike to turn the choke the rest of the way down to a nice idle. The snow under my bike is gone and there is a nice green antifreeze color to the snows edge surrounding the bike. I shut her down thinking something has blown.
About 3 weeks later (today) I decide to get to work and investigate. Fill the rad fire it up and look for the leak, nothing. Warm that puppy right up still no fluid loss. I ran it for about 15 min until it was good and hot in fact the temp guage was beginning to rise. I shut it down and I'm typing while waiting for a cool down to go check the levels again.
It appears the fluid must have overheated and dumped out the overflow hose.
Question - What caused this? Is more danger lurking? Am I missing something? Did I just let it get to hot and I over heated?
