Cobralinks lock any good?
Hi all! First real post
Does anyone own the Cobralinks lock? I am looking to buy one used and wondering if they are susceptible to the bic pen hack. The key style is of the tubular design and the lock I am looking at only comes with one key.Is it easy to have a new one made?Any and all help is appreciated.Cheers!
I have one and used it for years, while storing/parking at home only during off (no insurance) season. The locks are big and heavy (thus a hassle to carry around) but are much better than nothing!!
Now I have year round storage insurance.

Thanks for the welcome K-rod!
I recently purchased an 08' ninja 250 and am just starting the process of getting my licence.
Do you happen to know if the Cobralinks have the problem that other tubular locks have of being opened by a bic pen?I would also need a new key made as one is just asking for trouble. This lock would just be for at home to supplement a two way pager alarm(which I also have yet to buyI look forward to checking out the new Talon alarms when they come out.

It's not a lime green 250, is it?
Welcome to the forum!
I'm not really sure about the bic pen/lock thing - but being a similar type of key. perhaps there is some applicability ... don't know - and yup, make sure you have a second key.

Thank you thrilla! She's red
K-rod,any chance you might try the hack on your lock?
I am also looking for a two way pager alarm with a silent setting .Anyone have one for sale or suggestions on a quality alarm?
Have my bike now!Bought the Cobralinks and tried to open with a bic pen but the lock hole diameter is bigger than the pen barrel diameter. Will do a better test when I find a bigger pen.
One problem, the one and only key I have for the lock says do not duplicate on it.Wondering if I bring the key and cable to a locksmith ,will they refuse to make more keys?Company is now defunct and no longer provides replacement keysThe lock is nice and solid!
moderator:I wonder if perhaps this thread might be better placed in the new riders section, since well this is all new to me.cheers
