    Start insuring the bike now?

Considering its like 8 degrees and up everyday now and so many sunny days, should we be considering insuring our bikes long term starting now? Its highly doubtful that it will snow in the next couple of months and the rain doesnt seem to be very often either, just wondering what others opinions maybe before i fork out the dough for year insurance

Seems like it always gets unusually warm around this time of year, then it cools down again and sucks for another month. I remember it snowed while I was doing PRS last Feburary. Then once more in March.

If you don't like riding in the rain, don't bother insuring for a while--it's BC after all. The advantage to insuring year-round is that you can get out on the bike on that rare nice day (or two) in between rainstorms

I think I've seen you on Beach ave a couple of days ago... or yesterday. If it's a black Versys that is, there isn't that many around, especially this time of year. I love those bikes(haven't ridden one yet though).

Hmm, maybe i will get my plates now then, i actually just recently found out (since i m a newbie rider) that when you get full coverage insurance, 40% of the money is towards "special perils" which is theft and fire (excluding vandalism)... not worth it i think, if you ride a older/cheaper bike

That sounds like comprehensive insurance you're talking about. I agree, not worth it. If you have an older bike I wouldn't bother with collision insurance either. Removing those two should drop your insurance costs to a third of the price.

Yes, it has been a very mild winter, but according to "http://www.theweathernetwork.com/" (not that I really trust that site) the temperature is supposed to dip around the start of february, which makes sense really, It's still very much winter in the lower mainland despite the current temperature.

I'm not saying don't get back on it though. As long as it's not snowing, and you have the right gear, there's no reason you can't ride year round down here.
    Mmmm, Chickenstrips.

    Insure

I've managed 1000km in the last week. Saw quite a few bikes out yesterday. Even if it gets rainy again you'll always have those windows of dry.
