i ride downtown daily, and routinely see police violating traffic laws. not occassionally.. but often. whether it be a u-turn in a business district, or the following fine example of defensive driving that i witnessed one rainy afternoon last year: the cop was going southbound on nelson in the right shoulder lane and made a left turn north onto granville; should i even bother mentioning they didn't signal? or even just changing lanes or turning corners without signalling.
obviously offences like the 2nd one are less common and more serious than lane changing without using a signal, but i am curious what happens to these officers if they are reported? i bet if i was pulled over for doing something that stupid and reckless i would probably lose my license or have my bike impounded at the very least.
so anyway.. what does one do and how should they do it if they choose to report them? or is there simply no accountability and is reporting it a waste of time?
