Just some questions regarding arrests I've wondered about.
1) In Canada do we allow for citizen's arrests? If so what are the criteria. As an example, if someone purposely tried to hit you on your motorcycle with their car, would you be within your rights to place them under citizen's arrest and would the police have to follow through on it? Are citizens allowed to use reasonable force or no force at all during an arrest?
2) In the United States, citizens have the right to resist any unlawful arrest. Although it is recommended to never physically resist the police but rather cooperate with the arrest and raise any issues that may have made it unlawful after the fact. Do we have that right in Canada?
