I just bought a black jack heated vest today and after reading a whole bunch of posts here realized it doesn't have an on/off switch . Lol , from experience can someone tell me if this vest gets too warm during cold weather riding or if it stays at a bearable warm that one wouldn't mind feeling an hour or two of straight riding?
Because of the Olympics and reading break I've been able to pick up a bunch of shifts giving me some more money to play around with for gear.
The riding gear I have is not waterproof and I don't want to spend an extra $2-400 on a waterproof jacket that has adequate protection. I recall a member saying they had bought something like a rain suit (2 pieces) that went snugly over top of their gear (Thrilla maybe? - I stalked your posts and couldn't find it). From what I remember it was a pretty cheap. Any ideas on a place that carries something like this? I wouldn't mind an online link either. *I've tried putting my normal rain coat over top of my riding jacket but the neck area of my riding jacket stills seems to get soaked.
During the extremely hot days of last summer I recall reading a thread about this type of gear that helps cool you down during your riding. It was like a coif looking garment without the head part that went around the rider's neck. It was to be soaked in water or put in freezer (can't remember) and then put on under gear when riding. I would appreciate suggestions if any of you know what I'm talking about. Because I think there were a few different cool down techniques that you guys debated over (riding squid not being one of them - I know what your thinking DNA).
I had a couple more gear questions that I can't recall.. will post if I remember. Thanks in advance!
