After years of being considered a no-fun city, did the Olympics change that view? Did locals and visitors have fun this month? Would the average Finnish Olympic tourist tell their buddies back home that Vancouver was dull as s**t, and we can't drink in the streets, and future vacationers should stick to Ebiza? Did Joe Average from Brandon MB wander up and down Commercial this month thinking 'Man, this city rocks!'?
As a local, I had fun. I watched people having fun. I saw cops high-fiving people on Granville without tasering anyone. I felt fireballs singe my eyebrows at Robson Square. I drank with strangers.
I'd say we put on a show and enjoyed ourselves. If we avoid a hockey riot this afternoon and end this party with a lot of good memories, I'd say we turned the tide on the no-fun label. What say you?
