    Heated Vest Fuse?

    What amperage fuse is used in your heated vest? I'm making new leads from my battery and don't have my old ones to compare.

    I have one of those generic $90 vests.

    That makes a whole lot more sense that 10 amps, and is more what I remember from installing them in the past. But for sure this is a Blackjack one with a 10 in it, maybe it was left over from my Blackjack "jacket" and not a vest...

    I'd go with 5 as I've measured the amp draw on a size 42 vest and it was 2 1/2 or something like that...

    My lead has a 5-amp inline minifuse. I use the 45-watt Blackjack vest on it.

    Amps = Watts / Voltage

    So figure out what is your wattage on your vest and divide it by 12 volts and that will give you the Amp draw. Use a fuse slightly bigger than your draw.

    Volts x Amps = Watts
    12 x 10 = 120 watts
    12 x 7.5 = 90 watts.
    12 x 5 = 60 watts

    I use a 7.5 amp fuse.

    Damn, I just looked at the fuse again, and it's a 5 not a 3. Sorry, I was just a bit retarded on that one.

    I never run a fuse for a direct hook up. If you feel the need a black jack will do fine with a 5 amp fuse.
