Many years ago i tried to ride my un-insured bike 3 blocks from my house to the local bike shop. Got pulled over after 1 block.
The cop wrote me up a ticket for no insurance (i deserved it) but then insisted the bike had to be towed.
Even when i explained my eventual destination was literally across the street, and he could watch me push it there FASTER than the tow truck would arrive, he wouldn't relent and made us sit there 15 minutes til it came to haul me away.
Why would the cop do this? was he just being a jerk? or is there some law about pushing a bike along the sidewalk?
(i've pushed my bike all over the place since then and usually cops just nod and say they're sorry i'm pushing on such a hot day)
