Firstly, I know made a stupid call buying this thing.
Way overpriced. (Dano's performance GP-TRE)
Plus I got hit with $20 duty.
Anyways, despite having read mixed things about the mod, I was convinced it would be a great thing to do.
The unit itself is fine, wiring and everything is great and easy to install, but the actual "effect" of the mod, contrary to this guy's long post, was not worth $160 at all.
"Well I took the bike out for a quick spin around the block. I was holding about 5000 rpm in 2nd gear and turned this thing off. Thought I had hit the front brake or something. This thing is amazing!!! I rode around the neighborhood for a few minutes playing with the on/off switch just because I could. The TRE really does make a very noticeable difference! Engine braking is reduced and bike just seems to run a lot crisper off of the bottom end. Good stuff."
Well, I don't know, but I was playing with the on/off switch and although I felt a difference it really wasn't mind blowing and nothing that wouldn't have been accomplished by twisting the wrist more (GSX-R 600).
I wish I bought pazzo shorty levers instead
Oh well, live and learn. My experience: TRE mod not worth it at all. With the $20 version you lose gear indicator, and the more expensive ones just to keep your gear indicator aren't worth it for the effect.
