I suppose I should start off by saying I'm new here, and also fairly new to riding in general. I've been riding for a few months on the street, and I've taken my MST course, along with some 1 on 1 training from a private instructor.
I also have some off-road experience, which I had to work out of my system before street riding.
I'll try not to ramble on, so as my title suggests, I'm having an issue with keeping a bike and selling another.
I'm ashamed to admit I got spending happy when I was very new to riding and went out and bought myself an '02 F4i, which after about a week realized was a bad idea for me personally.
So I figured I'd hold onto it for a while, while I gained more experience and hopefully be ready for it this summer.
Then, I bought a 2008 Ninja 250 to improve my skills with and ride around my town, (Nanaimo BC.)
Basically what my issue here is, I have to get rid of one, there's no use letting one sit around when I'll likely never use it again.
I'm asking here because you all have more knowledge and experience than me and your foresight would help me a fair bit.
The Ninja does everything I need it to, I have yet to take it far on the highway, but small segments of the island highway despite having to shift quite quickly from a stop, were fine.
The F4i as you all likely know, does everything the ninja does and also the dark and scary stuff a new rider shouldn't mess with. (minus handling)
So my dilemma is which should I keep? and what should I be comfortable doing fluidly on a bike before I would be deemed "Ready" for the F4i?
I suppose the hidden question here also, are 600's, when a level headed and alert rider is on them such a horrible death trap than can and will always end in a bloody wreck?
(I've just been told that a few too many times than I'd like. Figured I'd look for clarification here.)
Thanks for reading.
