so a little over a month ago I jumped on the smart phone bandwagon. After years of writing down appointments (and loosing them), I decided to get somthing that would help me be organized. I ended up, after lots of reserach, getting the HTC touch pro 2. grreat device....I can type out word documents and send them to my laptop, has a great calander organizer. and also for the fun of it I have used on the net when I am at home at work when it was conected to wifi. I never opted for a data package as I am not a internet surfer on the go. so I had my phone connected to my wirless connections at home and at work. You see on my htc, there is 2 settings for connection, "data connection, and wifi. I have never had my data connection setting "on". Yestarday when my wife got our bill she almost fainted....$781.34! As it turns out even with the data connection turned off, Telus has a setting embbeded in the settings that forces the phone use the telus connection. So I phone telus, and rant and rave to 5 diffent people. They all essentially tell me "whatever its your problem" and pony up the dough". then I get transferred to a "customer esculation rep"? Anyways he looks into it, and agrees I should not have to flip this bill, and walks me through my phone settings to eliminate telus's little scam setting so that my phone will only acess web when it is connected through wifi. Oh yeah he also reversed the charges that have occured since the last billing period to...turns out I would have owed another 108 bucks in data usage alone!
Rant over...I just dont want this to happen to anyone else.
