AVINTWIN....I assume you know the seller, and perhaps even some bidders....what do you think this bike will sell for?
Ya I know the guy, he's late 70's and been a Vincent guy forever.
A Shadow moved to the Island about a year ago for over 100K and it was a complete POS, was supposedly "done" but was complete crap. Fortunately the buyer has too much $$$$ so just had it all done right.
I suspect this one will make at least 75K and could go well higher. Hard to tell as the US is still really hurting in many places. A reasonable Rapide just sold on the prairies for 40K - and that was a steal. These things have just gone really nuts, but I bought my daily driver one for 4.5K 25 years ago, and will still take it out and thrash it some.. IMO they are priced waaaay too silly and that makes them out of reach for many true bike guys to own.
Ya - they won't wheelie on demand, but when done up right they'll cruise two up all day at 120+ clicks and make a statement.
One of the most appealing things about the Vincent is the fact that so many owners are enthusiastic RIDERS of the bikes.
Oh well, maybe my VFR will start appreciating in time.

It may not help you avoid the problem,
but it'll end the suspense."

It hit 75K today and the "Reserve Not Met" dissappeared, closes in about 24 hours. I expect a frenzy about this time tomorrow - the way it's going it will go another 10-15K yet!
Would this be, in your opinion, one of the best examples out there?
I haven't seen it in person, but I do know the blowhard who owns it. I am sure it is a good bike, but has the wrong Carbs (1955 ones) and the proper ones are now available, but for a significant amount of $$. Lots of stainless stuff because it is easier to make ss bits that steel and cadmium plate - Many places have banned cad but two places here will still do it --
Lots of other stuff "not as delivered" such as two front heads and relocation of the battery, and I've never been a big fan of the 5" tach along side the 5" speedo. Non standard (but more functional) side stands.
The Craven rack is period, but having ridden with a friend of mine who ran one for years, they don't actually stand the load. Every year we always made bets on what town we would have to stop in, and weld up his rack!!
All done a good riding bike I am sure but not one that would win a serious Concors d'elegance judging.
Still if he gave it to me I sure wouldn't say no!!
Well -- It hit 75K US - reserve was met - and it stopped dead. I thought there might have been a frenzy in the last few minutes, but it didn't happen.
So there it is - a decent Black Shadow will fetch 75K in today's US economy
Now what was it I said, It would likely hit 75 K but could go higher, although I wasn't sure in this economy!! Pretty much hit it right on the first time.
Now I think I'll take the RC out and give it a good thrash.
Pretty cool.....lots of greenbacks for the black shadow.
