So I went down to the US mid April to buy a bike. I took my parents camper van and trailer down and ended up meeting a woman in Longview, Washington (just north of Vancouver/Portland). The bike was awesome!
2007 Honda 919, Red, 178 miles, mint condition.
So I bought the bike, loaded it into the trailer and headed for the border. I ended up sleeping in Blaine so I could hit the US customs office first thing in the morning. I was in and out of the in 15 mins and because I still had to exercise the 72hr waiting period, they just took my "Blaine Boarder Crossing Export Worksheet" and told me to come back in 72 business hours. I ended up leaving the trailer, with the bike inside, at A to Z storage. Pat is a super nice guy and it only cost me $20 to store it there for 5 days
So I came back to Kanuckistan for the weekend and headed back down on Wed morning to pick up the bike.
Went into the Canadian customs place. The guy went over all my paperwork. Asked me how I found the bike. Went on the internet to check prices stamped my forms and told me to go pay the cashier (who was super hot! The boarder guard from the week before was also super hot!). So I paid the cashier GST and then went ACROSS THE STREET to the RIV office and gave them my Recall Clearance letter and $204. 24hrs later I had an email from RIV with my inspection letter which I just printed off.
Now, because I had to catch a flight back to Kelowna and a whole bunch of fucking around, my bike sat in Vancouver for 2 weeks which drove me absolutely INSANE. Anyway, I got my bike to Kelowna yesterday. This morning I took the bike to Cambodian Tire, it took them 2 minutes to do their "inspection", I walked across the street to the autoplan place and I am now riding my baby!!!
All said and done:
This afternoon I threw some moto bars on it. I have a GIVI engine guard in the mail along with a pile of LED turn signals. I am going to buy an integrated tail light and get rid of that rear fender this week.
The power this bike has is retarded. I don't think I've ever ridden anything quite like it before. I need to take it easy and maybe go do a riding course or a track day or something! I can definitely see why a steering stabilizer is a GOOD idea and I think I'm going to grab a GSXR stabilizer off ebay as they are a cheap, proven mod.
Anyway, there's my follow up. I am a happy camper!
