In the dream, one of my riding friends is asking me how long it will take for him to get from Surrey to the Yamaha shop in Langley...
I told him, well that depends where you live in Surrey. Let's do a Google maps thing and find out. But, why do you want to go all the way there when there's a Yammy shop in Surrey? He says, I am going there to apply for a job in the parts dept!
I think to myself (still in the dream), wow, how can I get there first and apply myself?
Back to real life now, the next day when I was awake, I remembered this dream and sent a message to a BCSB member, Pamela, who I have rodden with a few times, and just happens to work, yeah, you guessed it, in the parts dept at the Langley Yamaha shop!
Pamela sent me a message back right away, saying how strange that was, and that I should actually come see them as they might be looking for some more part-time help! Wow!
About two weeks passed till I was in the area, looking for boots actually. I stopped in the shop and saw Pam, who immediately told me she had talked to the parts manager about my dream, and told him my name and a bit about me.
(This is where it gets really weird!)
He, Roland, the parts manager, asked Pam if I used to live in Chilliwack, cause he remembers somebody with a name like mine when he was growing up!
Yes, of course that was me, who else would want my name??
So Roland & I met (again) and yes, we grew up 5 houses apart!
We talked for a while, old memories, he told me that his group of friends considered me the 'old guy' and the 'cool guy' on the block! Geez! I wish I knew this 35 years ago!
We talked about Yamaha experience, how we worked in shops across the street from each other about the same time...I told him I have a resume out in the car, he said, naah, don't need it.
I will be there Monday, Tuesday & Thursday next week, working in the parts dept! Drop in and say HI!
