So I'm getting back into riding after a long absence, and given my limited amount of experience before and very long break, did the smart thing (as recommended by many on this board), took the PRS course, and decided to pick up a smaller bike to get back into things.
My problem now is trying to buy a half-decent used bike. I know this has been discussed in other threads, but most of you seem to know what you're talking about, and being totally new to buying a bike, I'm still confused. How do you know what a bike is worth used?
I've been comparing prices to the blue book, and there's just no correlation at all. Example:
$3800, when the blue book lists that bike at $1920. And this is how most of the ads for anything under 600 ccs seem to be. Am I just going to have to suck it up and pay more, given the relative scarcity of 400-500 cc bikes? Or are these sellers out of their minds?
Any advice on the subject would be appreciated. I'd like to pick up a bike before the summer's over, and get riding. Thanks.
