Importing Restricted Use Motorcycle from USA

Anyone have any experience importing a restricted use motorcycle from the
    USA?

To make it simple, let's say you find a nice dirtbike you want to buy that
    is in Texas.

What's the scoop on documentation etc?

There is often no registration documents for offroad bikes... your receipt
might be written on a napkin... and... what about recall clearance?

What if it's a bike company that's no longer in business.... or some funny
obscure brand made in Ching Shang Xiang Wow Buck Buck Ching... where
nobody can understand what you are calling about.

Those who have dealt with this... any insight would be great.

    Thanks

    Thanks, I saw that...

I can get a letter from the original USA importer showing the item was
brought legally into the USA at some point in time...

But I just can't wrap my head around the fact there may be no registration
    docs for the vehicle.

It's like I'm standing at the counter saying... "I bought this from a guy named
Joe Smith in Texas, see... he wrote me a note saying I paid him".

    ???

I can see it clearly as far as a titled vehicle like a car or street bike... but
I'm having a hard time grasping how they are just going to let me shoot
over the border with a handwritten receipt with about as much legitimacy
as a stay home sick note for a 5 year old.

napkin receipt will be fine, i have done this before with competition vehicles.

Since you are looking at a restricted use offroad motorcycle, and it is a offroad dirtbike, it most likely wont have any registration type documentation as it was never intended to be used on public roads and highways.
