Maybe one of our friendly insurers can help me.
I took a pretty catastrophic accident yesterday...long story short bike is totalled. This happened on a highway where they were in the middle of doing re-topping in those little square patches of gravel all over, causing the roads to be covered in pea gravel and sand.
The only had two signs, one, and another a few kms down the road that said loose gravel in an orange hazaard sign.
So the gravel was sproadic, sometimes not any for a half a km, other times none.
Come around as sweepy corner, and there was sand/small gravel covering the surface of the road. I did not even get to brake because the bike lowsided instantly.
I suffered quite a bit of damage (pelvis broken 2x, etc). I am curious of how I can approach with ICBC. Apparently I did not have collision, but I did have comprehensive (long story on that, because I actually did request collision, there i was a miscommunication and I did not think to check it until of course it is too late).
My question is: What about the road hazaard? It is documented, is it going to get laughed at by ICBC? What about my injuries etc?
Any ideas? Thanks all
