Ask me how I know .. well I found out the hard way.
Went on the squamish ride this eve .. 3 exists after the church I go to reach for my front brakes .. "whoops .. where is my front brakes ?!" dang .. no front brake lever !! lol
pull over, walk back a little looking for the lever and decided it's more dangerous than it's worth. got off the highway and rode home with my rear brake and engine braking.
Got home, and put on my spare brake lever .. good to go.
you may ask, why would I have a spare brake lever sitting around.. herein lies the irony of the whole situation:
While troubleshooting my brake problems, I took my brakes to modern (took the front brakes off as a unit). the master wasn't letting fluid return, so they tried to clean it and still no go. So they sold me a whole "new" unit. Aaron said it's off another suzuki with pretty much 0 miles on it yada yada yada .. They put it together, bled it on the bench.. I brought it home, put it on the bike and was good to go.
Now im not sure if they took off the locking nut, or if it rattled loose and then the screw came loose or what .. but either way, I lost my front brake lever on the highway today and I don't intend for that to happen again .. I'm buying some blue loctite tomorrow.
I'll call aaron and let him know .. just so he makes sure this doesn't happen again to someone else.
Please check your locking nut on the brake lever before you ride your bike next!
