Went up to the Shuswap yesterday with a buddy of mine. Along the way, we pulled into the rest stop at Britton Creek, just past the old toll booth. When we pulled in, there was a brand new Harley something or other parked along the left side, in front of a picnic table. Alongside the table was a guy laying in the gravel, on his side, face down. We watched him for a minute, trying to figure out if he was ok or not, then went in for a piss and back out for a smoke. Kept watching him, but he hadn't moved.
Just before leaving, I decided to go see if buddy was alright, but I was stopped by someone else who said he was drunk, and the cops were on their way. I asked if he was the rider of the Harley, and it turns out he was!
Apparently he rode in, and then fell asleep sitting on his bike. Fell off the bike, then crawled to the table, and fell asleep there. Soon after, he fell off the table, which is where he stayed. Still had a backpack on, and his salad bowl helmet was sitting beside him.
We hung around for the entertainment when the cops pulled in. They woke him up, found a micky of something, poured the last shot out of it, and tried getting him up. Dude couldn't even stand! Fell over a couple times, before they just cuffed him and dragged him up. His eyes barely open, dirt and debris all over his face, the cops stuffed him in the car. I've never witnessed someone so shit faced in my life, really.
How this dude managed to get his bike that far up the Coq, I will never figure out. It was brand new, and had a 1 day permit on it. Despite his sheer stupidity, I'm glad the cops got him before he killed himself or someone else.
Just thought I'd share.
