The plan: ride to Merritt via the Hope-Princeton and Hwy 5A, settle in at the Middlesboro Pub for late lunch in front of the big screen while enjoying Moto-GP, then ride home.
Moto-GP is at 3pm, and the trip via Princeton takes about 5 hrs, depending on pace and stop times. Theoretically one could leave Vanc as late as 10am and be 'on time' in Merritt. However, I want to hit the road at 8am out of Vancouver to beat the heat and traffic. We should have brunch in Princeton (which will consume an hour), then if time allows could do a side trip (say, to Banquier and back) out of Princeton, or out of Merritt (either up the 5A past Nicola Lake and back, or the Mamit Lake Rd).
Timings will be 8am away from my door, 8:15 Boundary and Grandview, 8:45Tim Hortons Langley (200th and 86th). Please have a full tank and an empty bladder - we'll refuel again in Hope, cuz it's 240km from Langley to Princeton.
Please post by 10pm Saturday if you're coming (if at all possible). I have prechecked the arrangement with the staff at Middlesboro, but I'll want to phone ahead to reserve the correct number of tables in the screen area.
P.S. Home-bound we can do whatever the group (or individuals) feel. Fastest and least interesting is the Coquihalla (not much more than 3hrs to Van). Hwy 8 and the canyon (my preference) takes about 4 hrs to Langley and 1/2 hr more to Van.
