Tuesday July 20 Lummi Shore to Baker
I've got a day without work Tuesday, so thought I might use my new Nexus card to advantage. I'd plan to leave Vancouver at 8am, to allow 45mins to get to the Peace Arch border, and I presume I can be across by 9am. I reckon on riding Birch Bay and Lummi Shore to Bellingham, then maybe the Chuckanut, followed by a back route of some sort to Hwy 9 and eventually up 542 to Baker and back. We'll probably return via the Sumas or Cloverdale crossing. I expect to ride moderately in the low country and to get a bit more enthusiastic above Glacier, but it's a day for relaxation so all paces are welcome - nobody gets left behind! Not even me... Back mid-afternoon?
If anyone else has a Nexus card, we could meet before crossing. I'm inexperienced with logical meeting spots down that way, so I'm open to suggestions: downtown White Rock maybe? The non-Nexus holders will likely be slower getting across, but maybe Big Al's on D St, immediately east of I5 at the first exit would work for a 'cross-border' gathering spot. It could be quicker at the truck crossing, and D St is (I think) the first cross street right after that crossing. Again, I'm open to suggestions.
late notice, no takers, so rode alone: Drayton Harbor, Birch Bay, Lummi Shore, Bellingham, Lake Whatcom, Mosquito Lk Rd, Silver Lk Rd, South Pass Rd, North Pass Rd... all good...
