Long story short, since most of us riders have short attention spans, I was in a parking lot about to pull out, stationary behind this taiwanese males car waiting for him to pull out of the lot first, when all of a sudden, he puts it into reverse and mashes the gas pedal.
The rear bumper of his car smokes my front tire as I jumped off it in time, thankfully.
I immediately whip out my cell phone and start taking pictures of everything. Gotta cover my ass when shit goes to ICBC right. Once he got out I asked to see his license and insurance papers, took pictures of those as well. Also got some audio recorded of our conversation, with him admitting that he ran over my bike because he couldn't see me (I know the legality of this and why it won't stand up in court but it helps in case the adjuster is skeptical of anything).
Anyways, they were really concerned with me claiming it to ICBC. I don't mind having it repaired under the table either, since I just bought new tires for the thing, plus the damage appears to be as follows:
- front wheel cowl
- frame slider
- clutch lever
- left handle bar
- possible new triple tree thing
- shifter sometimes feels "sticky" (anyone clarify this?)
I think I'm just going to go to a shop and see how much it costs to repair. I'd rather not go to ICBC for a few reasons, mainly because I'm worried they'll write the bike off and won't compensate me for the brand new tires I just got as it counts as a maintenance item.
