So here's the deal, I'm interested in hearing everyone's thoughts on displacement. I know the usual cliches like "there's no replacement for displacement" and so on but as far as usable power, does it really matter for your everyday Joe?
I think that any modern (post '95 or so) 600 supersport machine ridden by a capable rider and in good mechanical condition should get from point A to point B just as quick as your average literbike/big twin.
There are so many factors involved such as the riders comfort level on the particular bike, road conditions, etc but all things being equal, unless your last name is Edwards or Rossi, shouldn't it be a pretty close matchup?
Personally, I like the feeling of actually making my 600 work to maintain a certain riding pace whereas some friends of mine like the fact that they can keep their bike in fifth gear and still walk away from me on the straights. Thats not to say these guys aren't great riders, they are, but it's more comfortable for them to ride that way.
What do you guys think?
