Great video, indeed I was shopping at Yamaha a few months ago. The FZ8 seems like a great bike, but I just couldn't figure out why I would pick one over the FZ1 especially with such a close price point.
I was told by a Sales guy at one of our local Yamaha dealers that "FZ6 riders were coming out of the woodwork to look at the FZ8".
That may be so, but not many (if any at all) are biting.....I just can't see myself trading my FZ6 for the FZ8, quite honestly. There's just too many other bikes that are worth making the leap for, like the Street/Speed Triple or a Ducati (those red bitches keep calling out to me...). Had Yamaha addressed all the "deficiencies" of the FZ6 with the FZ8, it would be a slam dunk. I know Yamaha didn't produce the FZ8 in order to please FZ6 owners, but c'mon Yamaha....give your head a shake. You had us believing it was akin to the Second Coming, but all we got was a watered-down FZ1. What a shame.
Where can i test ride one Neil?
Sorry but I don't see the point for the local market. No insurance breaks on an 800, and when they already have a 600 and 1000cc version it's a waste of time.
It would have made more sense to bring in the ABS version of the FZ1 (which I believe has been available for several years in more enlightened markets).

That said while it won't convert the FZ6 owners, most likely Yami would love to see them jump to the FZ1, I think it still positions well as a tamed FZ1 for newer riders.
Yah... I know all about the call of the red... until the orange bit me.
