MONTREAL - The Sûreté du Québec is trying to locate a 16-year-old boy who may have been in contact with an elderly Sherbrooke woman who's been missing for three days.
Réjane Pelletier-Charette, 82, was last seen Friday and friends became concerned and reported her missing on Sunday, SQ Sgt. Gregory Gomez del Prado said.
Monday, the SQ said its also looking to speak with René Audet, 16, missing from his youth group home in Val du Lac since Thursday.
A boy matching Audet's description was seen going door-to-door on Rodrigue St., where Pelletier-Charette lives, asking people if he could use their phone, the SQ said.
Pelletier-Charette is not known to suffer any medical condition that might explain her disappearance, Gomez del Prado said.
The woman's car, a champagne-coloured 2008 Mazda 3 (licence plate 893 TQK), is also missing from the driveway of her home on Rodrigue St. in Sherbrooke's Rock Forest district.
Gomez del Prado would not comment on media reports that the woman may have been kidnapped. "At this point all scenarios are being considered," he said.
Anyone with information about the missing woman is asked to call the Sûreté du Québec at 1-800-659-4264.
