Is it normal for rotors to get super hot after a 5-10 minute ride? I just got off work and gassed up then came straight home, and after i got off i felt my rotors just for the heck of it and they damn near burned my fingers!
I did do some hard stops, but i feel it was insignificant seeing that i only rode it like 3-5 miles.
A bit of back story on my brakes. They had fork oil on them, but i took them out and used some heavy grit sandpaper on them to clean the glazed oil off. The contamination was significant on 1 caliper. I still don't have full braking power, but if i squeeze the lever hard enough the bike will still do a decent emergency stop, but it requires significant force on the lever.
Is it possible they are still contaminated and the lack of friction+oil reside is heating up my brakes too quick? I changed my brake fluid 2 months ago and looking through the reservior glass the fluid has already changed color from golden yellow to an orangy color. Could it have gotten hot enough to boil my brake fluid? Any help would be great. Thanks.
