Heya, I just saw this thread so thought i'd ask something.
Conditions: Clear day, construction on highway 99, 2 lane traffic, very right lane closed and unpaved with about a 5 inch drop between the very right lane and the lane beside it. I'm driving a bmw 318is
Okay here goes (its a car incident), I was driving down highway 99 in between steveston highway and westminister highway when a cop stepped out onto the road and waved me to the side. I immediately slowed down, but was puzzled because I had nowhere to go. The officer wanted me to pull into the very right lane, I saw the drop and was skeptical as to following directions. I did however, and barely cleared the drop. I was safe and off the highway now. The officer did everything nice and all, gave me a speeding ticket and was on my way. He told me to come to speed in the very right lane and then merge with traffic. My car barely being able to come down, I was wondering how it was going to get back up. So i'm getting upto speed and decide going at 90km/h i'll never be able to get up that, so I try at 50km/h. I turned my indicator on and began to pull back on the highway. Just as I was merging I hear a POP BOOM PHLHLLLELE and my left front tire is flat.
Okay so here is my question. Are these conditions safe for an officer to wave someone down? Seems a little hectic for smaller cars. Any insight would be good to my grieving wallet. Thanks!
