Who else out there is being shafted by this whole semi-annual event?
This is the letter I sent to one of my profs tonight after being informed of tommorow's strike locations:
"I just became informed that the Buchanan buildings will be under pickets tomorrow (Monday the 10th). As a result I will not be able to attend one of my classes. I have been told by cupe2278 that students would be allowed to cross without prejudice as they are not employees. Cupe2950 has informed me that anyone who physically crosses a picket line will be treated as a "scab" regardless of intent. As I am a member of 2950 I fear that I will loose my job if I attempt to attend my class. I therefore choose not to attend my class out of fear for my job.
Needless to say this does not elevate my opinion of 'my' union.
I don't mind people strikeing, i just hope that the strike does not prevent me from graduating. The latest rumor is that exams may be pushed back into march. I have several job interviews this summer. I would hate to have to tell them that I didn't yet have my degree.
