2008 Toyota Tundra ---- Regular cab 2 wheel drive long box with 4.6L V-8 and 5 speed automatic.
I bought this truck new in January 2009 and have had no problems, just great Toyota reliability. Since moving to the lower mainland, our lifestyle has changed so a truck is no longer a needed vehicle for me. Also with 2 bikes and 2 other cars, I don't need or have room for a third vehicle.
No accidents and driven only by myself or my wife.
When I went shopping for a truck, I wanted a plain jane, straight pick up that I could own problem free for years. Something mainly to haul motorcycles and this fits the bill perfectly. It fits in the underground parking at Metrotown even with bikes in the back so height is not a problem. The full tow package with coolers and hitch ensure solid reliability.
All the fancy accessories were not what I was interested in as I have found they are things that cost more as time passes. I feel the same for the 4 wheel drive option. I don't go off road so I did not need the extra weight to haul around. And the traction control and limited slip rear end has ensured that it never got stuck or sideways when the snow hit the ground. The only must have items I like are cruise control and air conditioning, both of which are in this truck.
So just to make it clear ...... no power windows, no power door locks, no keyless entry, no 4WD, no giant stereo, no driving lamps, etc, etc, etc.
What is important to me is reliability and durability. Any extras are there to extend the life of the truck and minimize any maintenance downtime. With the Tundra you get that and more. A quiet and comfortable ride, massive interior room, great power, decent mileage and huge hauling capacity.
The Rhino lining bed liner is great for hauling bikes. No extra chocks needed because the grip of the liner holds the tires in place. And built in tie down points in the bed are perfectly placed.
The long box allows 2 streetbikes and ramps in the bed with the tailgate closed. The levelling kit gets rid of that nose down/bum high look that plagues so many 2WD trucks. And the ride remains factory quality smooth.
Mileage is just over 32000 km with a warranty for 3 years/60000km. All maintenance has been done and records kept, but really it has just been a few oil changes. List of items added to truck and any maintenance work done comes with truck.
