So I had some small scratches on my fairing, decided to use this weekend to repair them. Using a touch up pen from ClearRite, I got the black on...okay, it went on, kinda bumpy, the pen applicator sucks, whatever. I used 1500grit to sand it flat, and was ready to clear coat...
Bam. I can't do it for shit. It comes out of the pen unevenly, doesn't "hold" to the paint, and instead just bumps up everywhere.
So now, rather than just a couple scratches, I have a big ton of areas that have had the clear coat sanded off (maybe a bit of the paint?) and I can't cover it because it looks like shit with the lump clear coat (think, dripping hot glue all over something). I made something that wasn't even that bad (just bad because I KNEW it was there) to something that honestly makes it look like crap.
How the hell do I do a thin, smooth coat? Also, where can I get some clear coat? I don't think this pen is going to cut it..
