A 25-year-old Mission man is facing as many five charges after a police helicopter spotted a motorcycle being driven at speeds up to 170 km/h Friday, police say.
Officers observed the motorcyclist initially traveling south on the Mission bridge at high rates of speed, the RCMP said in a release.
"He was traveling through red lights, at high rates of speed and driving extremely erratically," said Const. Sean Hackman.
At one point the driver nearly caused a serious crash, Hackman said.
The driver crashed the motorcycle at Bourquin Cres. and South Fraser Way in Abbotsford, where Abbotsford Police took him into custody.
Police did not say if there were other vehicles involved in the crash or if there were injuries.
Abbotsford police are recommending charges of dangerous driving, possession of stolen property and driving while prohibited, the RCMP said.
