Alright, I know when I need a barrage of (mis)information I can always count on the armchair experts at BSCB.
So realllly long story short, my contract with Bell ran out (3 years) and I went in to sign onto another 3 year term as they said I couldn't continue getting my discount package without being on contract. (Month to month became more expensive)
I upgraded to an HTC Legend smart phone and it works about as well as Chia's Vstrom with a full tank of diesel. It has the antenna in the palm portion of the phone and as a result drops every 3rd or 4th call due to really poor reception. Apparently the solution is to tape a very slim stick to the back and hold it to my ear with the stick as to avoid shielding the antenna with my fat hand.
So I called Bell, they are not willing to replace my phone with a Blackberry - this was my acceptable solution as I have no issues with reception on a blackberry. My phone is less than 3 months old and essentially new.
As a result, I need a reliable phone so I need to move on. I can't carry on with a phone that consistently drops calls. So my question to you is what's the best brand of oil to use in my... Kidding...
Only being 3 months into this contract the cost to get out of this and move on is in the area of $600 according to Bell. $400 contract cancellation fee plus some other $200 dollar fee for something else - maybe the phone or something. Can I just call and cancel my account, tell them to pound sand and never pay them the fee? How badly, if at all, could this affect me credit score wise? This is my preferred solution as it is essentially what they are telling me to do. Is there any other better alternatives? Maybe sell my phone and use that to subsidize the cancellation fee?
Anyone know anything about this?
